University of Bordeaux (UBx)

 

The University of Bordeaux (France) has a long-lasting university tradition dating back to 1441. Ranked among the top universities in France for the quality of its academic courses and research and ranked 208th in the ARWU-Shanghai ranking, it is a multi-disciplinary, research-focused, international institution. It offers 250 Master programs, 150 Bachelor programs, more than 50 national diplomas in Health and 50 PhD majors for a total of 56,000 students (incl. PhDs), making it the third largest university in France based on the number of students. It employs around 5,600 staff members, of which nearly 3,000 are academic and research staff. It boasts 4,000 publications and 50 patents per year. Over the past decade, strong participation to EU programs is of key relevance with the development of joint curricula and innovative training modules (12 Erasmus Mundus degrees since 2004, 18 strategic partnerships), of active cooperation with non-EU countries (9 TEMPUS/Capacity Building projects), and of excellence in research (more than 150 FP7/H2020 projects, 43 ERC grants).
